Serving tea to many households across the globe

Taste delighted. Trust endured.

The brand

Lasa & Lamsa traces its origins to 1933, when two young entrepreneurs from the Nilgiris arrived in the Nizam’s Hyderabad and set up a modest tea powder shop that would go on to pioneer one of India’s finest flavoured teas. What began as China Tea Emporium soon became The Nilgiri Tea Emporium, a name that introduced Hyderabad to blends crafted with care, character, and imagination.

Chai the way it’s meant to be, rich, aromatic, and true to the leaf, has grown into one of the finest tea manufacturing units in India, a name that today sits on shelves across America, Russia, and the Gulf countries, still handpicking leaves from the gardens of Darjeeling, Assam, and the Nilgiri hills.

That same care has grown into a range built for every kind of tea lover: everyday favourites like Lasa Dust and Danedaar tea, aromatic Elaichi and Masala blends, our signature Lamsa Flavoured Tea, and specialty Saffron and Green teas. Priced from pocket-friendly packs to premium blends, there is a Lasa & Lamsa tea for every table, every taste, and every budget.

“Chai, for us, has never been just a drink. It’s the cup that starts your morning, the reason friends linger a little longer at the corner stall, the warmth offered to every guest who walks through the door.”

The founders

The company, first started by Darvesh Abdul Hameed and Darvesh Abdul Raoof, was carried forward for nearly six decades by Darvesh Ghiyasuddin, who joined the business at just 19 and went on to serve as President of the Telangana (formerly Andhra Pradesh) Tea Merchants Association for 48 years. His contribution to the tea industry, and to blends like our original Lamsa Flavoured Tea, was recognised with the prestigious CITD Gold Medal, presented at Rashtrapati Bhavan by the then President of India.

After heading the business as Managing Partner for nearly six decades, Darvesh Ghiyasuddin passed away on 5th April 2026, passing the company into the capable hands of his brothers, Darvesh Anees Ahmed and Darvesh Nisar Ahmed.

The next generation

Today, the fourth generation of the family carries that legacy forward: Darvesh Hameeduddin Shahid, Darvesh Lateefuddin Khalid, Darvesh Rasheeduddin Hamid, and Darvesh Raeesuddin Majid. Darvesh Ikramuddin, a young and energetic new addition to the business, is bringing this heritage brand into the digital age. The launch of our Online Store makes our signature blends easier to discover and order wherever you are, and opens the door to new blends shaped by what you tell us you want to taste next.
